Catalog and Browse Sources
Spectral Explorer uses a Catalog panel for workspace sources and a Browse sources panel for remote discovery.
Catalog panel
Use Catalog for sources that are already in the workspace. The Catalog header includes an import button with:
Upload new data: upload imagery into the workspace and attach it.Add from Files: attach imagery that already exists in Files.
The Catalog lenses change what each source exposes:
Explore: analysis and visualization layers plus reference spectra.Process: data layers and masks.Label: exploratory and finalized labels.
The lenses do not create separate copies of the source. They are filtered views over the same source tree.
Browse sources panel
Use Browse sources to search for external data.
The panel supports:
Planetary Computersearch with collection browsing, exact item ID search, and filters.STAC Catalogsfor configured STAC servers. You can also add and configure your own STAC servers from the settings button in theBrowse sourcespanel header.
Planetary Computer search can filter by use case, collection family, search area, date range, footprint overlap, and cloud cover. Search area can come from the current viewport, workspace source bounds, or a custom bounding box.
Preview and import
Remote search results can be previewed on the map and inspected in the Inspector. Select an item, configure any required asset choices in the Inspector, then use the action bar at the bottom of the panel to add or import it.
For batch workflows, select multiple actionable remote items and use the bottom action bar to import or add the selected items. Items that need manual asset selection remain blocked until configured.
