Sources and remote discovery

Spectral Explorer uses one workspace source tree and a separate Sources workflow for remote discovery.

Browse workspace sources​

The Explore, Prepare, and Label workflows show the same workspace sources with different subsections:

  • Explore: analysis layers and reference spectra.
  • Prepare: data layers and masks.
  • Label: label sets.

Changing workflows does not copy a source. It changes the controls and source content shown in the left panel.

For an empty workspace, use Import Data to upload local data or Browse Sources to open remote discovery.

Search remote sources​

Open Sources for external data. The panel supports:

  • Planetary Computer collection browsing and exact STAC item ID search.
  • STAC Catalogs from configured STAC servers.
  • Manage STAC servers in the panel header.

Planetary Computer collection search can use a use case, collection family, search area, date range, footprint overlap, and cloud-cover limit. Search area can use the current map viewport, workspace source bounds, or a custom bounding box.

Preview and add results​

Search results can be previewed on a Map canvas and inspected with Inspector. Select an item and configure any required assets before using the action bar to add or import it.

For batch work, select several actionable results and use the same action bar. Results that require manual asset selection remain unavailable until their options are configured.
