Inspect and Map Views
Spectral Explorer has two main canvas views: Inspect and Map. Switch between them with the toolbar buttons at the top of the canvas.
Inspect view
Use Inspect to focus on one reference source and inspect pixels, layers, labels, masks, and spectra for that source.
In Inspect view:
- The selected reference source is marked in the source tree.
- Use the radio button on a source row to set the reference source.
- Double-click a source to focus the canvas on it.
- Layer visibility controls are shown when the layer is applicable to the current reference source.
- The bottom
Spectral Signaturestab updates when you click pixels or select labels.
If a saved reference source is no longer valid, Spectral Explorer falls back to the first valid source in the workspace.
Map view
Use Map to view sources and layers in geographic context.
In Map view:
- Source rows can be reordered.
- Layer visibility controls show what is in the map layer stack.
- Double-click a source to zoom to its bounds.
- If a source is outside the current viewport, a focus icon appears on the source row.
- STAC search areas and remote item previews are visible while browsing sources.
Map layer ordering follows source order, then layer order within each source.
Browse sources on the map
Opening Browse sources locks the center canvas to Map view. This lets you review search bounds, collection footprints, and remote imagery previews while adding sources. When you leave Browse sources, the normal view selection is available again.
Pointer results
Use the pointer tool to click raster layers. Pointer results sample the clicked render layer, including configured RGB or PCA bands when available. If a clicked raster can be sampled, the result should appear in the pointer results area rather than leaving the output blank.
