Labeling the data

Opening the data in the Spectral Explorer

To label our data, we need to open it in the Spectral Explorer editor. Right click the image row in the list, and then click the Open in New Workspace button in the dropdown.

Select Spectral Explorer to open it in the Spectral Explorer editor.

Creating the label types

To begin labelling, let's create the classes we need. Click on the Tools dropdown in the top toolbar, and select Label types.

Click the Add button to create a new label type.

Name the label type Plastics and click the Create button. Then, click on New collection at the top to create a new collection. A new collection will appear named New Collection, double click it and rename it to Plastics, and then press enter to confirm.

Then, click the + button to the right of the new collection five times to create five new label types. Double click each one and rename them to HDPE, PVC, and PET, PE, and Belt. To rename them, double click them and type the new name, then press enter to confirm.

Labeling the data

Click on the Labels tab in the left panel.

Click on the label settings, and set the status of our new labels to Finalized, and the class to PET.

Make a selection by clicking on the lasso tool in the toolbar above the image, and dragging a selection around the PET bottles in the image as shown below.

Change the class to PVC, and create a PVC label by dragging a selection around the PVC bottles in the image as shown below.

Change the class to HDPE, and create a HDPE label by dragging a selection around the HDPE bottles in the image as shown below.

Change the class to PE, and create a PE label by dragging a selection as shown below.

Finally, change the class to BELT, and create a BELT label by dragging a seleection as shown below.

Exiting Spectral Explorer

To exit the Spectral Explorer, click on the top left button to open a dropdown menu, and then click Back to dashboard to return to the main Clarity page.
